Bingöl is a province located in the Eastern Anatolian Region of Turkey and has hosted many civilizations such as the Urartians, Assyrians, Hittites, Persians, Romans, Seljuks and Ottomans, whose history dates back to 4000-5000 years BC. It is adjacent to Muş in the east, Erzincan-Erzurum in the north, Tunceli-Elazığ in the west, and Erzurum in the south. The city whose first known name was Cebel-cur was pronounced as Çapakçur over time and was changed to Bingöl.
